Buenos Aires Mono
Project type
Photography
Location
Buenos Aires
Robert A. Mucklin’s images of Buenos Aires move between restraint and expression, shifting from the quiet discipline of black and white to the atmospheric depth of colour. In monochrome, the city is distilled to form and contrast—architecture stands with statuesque permanence while light and shadow shape the passage of time across its surfaces.
In colour, that same city softens. Nature’s palette emerges through sky, weather, and reflection, introducing warmth and movement to scenes grounded in history. Fleeting light and evolving tones transform familiar structures into something momentary, almost painterly—hues that might be pursued with a brush, yet are captured precisely through the lens.
Together, these works form a dialogue between stillness and change, where the enduring presence of the city meets the transient conditions that define it, each image holding a moment that cannot be repeated.
